1950年、愛知県安城市出身。1974年、愛知教育大学卒業後、安城市内で教師として勤務。退職後、ウクライナの首都キエフに移住し、人間開発ウクライナ大学東洋言語学部日本比較文化学科にて外部講師を務める。また、ウクライナ人材の日本派遣を目的として国際マネジメント会社 Natsuを設立。2022年2月24日、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻開始を受け、2週間後に日本へ帰国。すぐに地元・安城市をはじめ、東京や大阪でもウクライナ避難民の受け入れを開始した。一般社団法人ウクライナ人道支援ジャクユーサポートを設立し、モラウスキー合唱団の日本招待プロジェクトなどウクライナの文化を未来につなげる活動にも取り組んでいる。
Takahisa Kasai | Humanitarian Aid Worker
Born in Anjo in 1950. After graduating from Aichi University of Education in 1974, he worked as a teacher in Anjo. After retiring, he moved to Kyiv, and served as an external lecturer at the Department of Japanese and Comparative Culture, International Human Development of “Ukraine”. He also founded the international management company Natsu with the aim of sending Ukrainian talent to Japan. On February 24, 2022, following the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he returned to Japan two weeks later. He immediately began accepting Ukrainian refugees in his hometown of Anjo City, as well as in Tokyo and Osaka. He founded the general incorporated association, Jakuyu Support, a Ukrainian humanitarian aid organization, and is involved in activities to connect Ukrainian culture to the future, such as the Japan Invitation Project for the Morawski Choir.

After a long career as a social studies teacher, Takahisa Kasai finally fulfilled his dream of moving to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. He bought a house with the intention of spending the rest of his life there, and was enjoying a peaceful life when a major historical event suddenly occurred, forcing him to return to his home country. He talks about the strength of will he felt from the people he met as the situation intensified.
